The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are at the heart of the universal agenda covering the years from 2016 to 2030 adopted by the United Nations Summit in September 2015. The 17 SDGs and 169 targets are set to achieve sustainable global development and companies are urged to take action to attain the goals and targets.
The Sumitomo Group has achieved sustainable development based on Sumitomo’s Business Philosophy, which has been handed down for 400 years. The conviction that Sumitomo’s business must benefit the nation and society as well as Sumitomo itself has much in common with the contemporary concept of creation of shared value (CSV).
As social issues rise to the top of the global agenda and gain ever-wider recognition, we are introducing the initiatives that Sumitomo Group companies are pursuing in response to stakeholders’ needs and to help resolve these issues through their business.
