On January 10, 2025, the Expo School Caravan called at Nakahara Junior High School in Hiratsuka City. Mr. Akifumi Yasunaga, Deputy Secretary-General of the Sumitomo EXPO2025 Promotion Committee, led an inspiring interactive session that introduced the students to the upcoming Expo.
The EXPO School Caravan is part of an initiative by the Secretariat of the Headquarters for the World Expo, Cabinet Secretariat, designed to engage youngsters nationwide. Its goal is to encourage them to reflect on the future society and take steps toward shaping it, using Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (Expo 2025) as a catalyst. The class at Nakahara Junior High School was part of this effort.
During the session, the Sumitomo EXPO2025 Promotion Committee offered a comprehensive introduction to Expo 2025, detailing the purpose and goals of the Sumitomo Pavilion, as well as the key features that make it so special.
In the second half of the class, the students asked various thoughtful questions, such as “What’s the must-see at the Expo?”, “What makes participating in the Expo so worthwhile?”, “How many types of clothing are made from bottrium recycled material?”, and “How much does it cost to build a pavilion?”
The Sumitomo EXPO2025 Promotion Committee will be holding eight classes during the EXPO School Caravan.
