On February 13, 2025, the EXPO School Caravan made a stop at Hamasuka Junior High School, Chigasaki City. Mr. Yoriaki Ikeda, Deputy Secretary-General of the Sumitomo EXPO2025 Promotion Committee, led the session, sharing insights about the upcoming Expo.
The EXPO School Caravan, an initiative by the Secretariat of the Headquarters for the World Expo, Cabinet Secretariat, aims to inspire youngsters around Japan to envision the society of tomorrow and actively consider their role in shaping it, with Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan (Expo 2025) serving as the springboard for these discussions.
For an audience of 250 eighth-grade students, the Sumitomo EXPO2025 Promotion Committee offered a comprehensive overview of Expo 2025, shedding light on the purpose and significance of Sumitomo’s involvement and unveiling key aspects of the Sumitomo Pavilion.
During the Q&A session, students posed various questions, including “How many trees were used in constructing the Sumitomo Pavilion?” “As for the tree-planting experience, where will the participants plant the saplings?” “What will become of the wood from the Sumitomo Pavilion after the Expo?” and “I’ve heard that androids will be featured at the Expo—what will they be like?”
The Sumitomo EXPO2025 Promotion Committee will be holding eight classes during the EXPO School Caravan.
